About Us
Unforgettable Tastes Since 1972
Smituliano’s Italian Restaurant began as a dream simmering in a small Brooklyn kitchen in 1972. Founded by Ryan and Telly Smituliano, a first-generation Italian-American family with a passion for food, the restaurant started as a modest trattoria serving homemade pastas and rustic sauces passed down through generations.
Ryan and Telly grew up watching their mother, Nonna Lucia, stir pots of Sunday gravy for hours while the family gathered around the table. Inspired by those flavors and moments, they opened Smituliano’s with just a few tables, a handwritten menu, and a promise to always cook with heart.
Word of mouth quickly turned Smituliano’s into a neighborhood favorite. Over the years, the restaurant expanded to accommodate more guests, but the soul of the kitchen remained the same—warm, welcoming, and filled with the aroma of fresh herbs and simmering tomatoes.
Today, Smituliano’s continues under the care of Telly and Ryan's children and grandchildren, who stay true to the family’s original vision while also embracing modern tastes and techniques. From handcrafted pasta to house-made desserts, every dish tells a story rooted in love, tradition, and the vibrant spirit of Italian cooking.
We’re proud to welcome you into our extended family, and into the ongoing story of Smituliano’s.
Buon appetito!
